Gargoyle Guardian Chronicles Omnibus Books 13 eBook Rebecca Chastain

I don't understand all the great reviews. These are not books, but short stories! The author was annoyingly repetitive. Mika is not powerful but has amazing QUARTZ skills... this is told to us every single page. This happened in each short story. I started to highlight quartz, healer, and gargoyle to see how many times it was repeated... but it started driving me nuts so i stopped. There is very little character development. It's sad because the world and characters have so much potential. Don't waste your money.

Gargoyle Guardian Chronicles Omnibus Books 13 eBook Rebecca Chastain Reviews

The story is complete in the 3 books so you need to read them all and in order. The version I bought had them all in one "book".
The first book of the story is about the main character rescuing some baby gargoyles and learning that she has the talent to heal them.
Then the next book takes place a bit later and is about a dormant gargoyle and a crazy lady that has hooked it up to a machine to draw off its magic. Out of the three books, I had the most trouble with this one. It was just as exciting and had great characters, but I was lost several times in her descriptions of the chaos that was happening when the magic got out. I couldn't always "see" what she was trying to describe. But it was still good and maybe it was just me.
In the last book we have again gone a bit further in time but our heroine is still trying to heal the dormant gargoyles. She has now found several in the same deteriorating state.
Great adventure type book. Lots of action, some sexual tension but very young adult in descriptions. Will appeal more to girls.
I loved these books
Magic of the Gargoyles (Gargoyle Guardian Chronicles #1) by Rebecca Chastain is an exciting novella that had me the first page when a baby gargoyle blasted into her room asking for help. How does that not get a reader's attention? She learns she can heal gargoyles, although she is just a mid-level earth element magic user. From there it sent us readers to a shady underground where baby gargoyles were being sold off illegally and our gal risks life (and whole life savings) to rescue them against a evil sorcerer. Very exciting story I just loved. I love gargoyles! Even have a tattoo of one! TMI? LOL
Curse of the Gargoyles (Gargoyle Guardian Chronicles #2) by Rebecca Chastain is the second book in the series but could be read without reading book one and the reader would do fine. Our gal, Mika, is now working as a healer of gargoyles. She is called to a special project that could take away her powers if she takes her job and makes a mistake and it could kill the gargoyle. She could also just pass on the job. She just can't do that. What happens is something no one expected and now the whole city is in jeopardy. Exciting and suspense-filled read. Love her side-kick gargoyle Oliver.
Secret of the Gargoyles (Gargoyle Guardian Chronicles #3) by Rebecca Chastain is the last book in the series and it goes out with a bang. The magic and touching story is excellent. A suspense, a mystery, intrigue, love of these dear gargoyle creatures, and so much more. A wonderful end to this great series.
A wonderful box set that has all of these together. Loved it!
You know that happy, full feeling you get when you finish a really good book with a satisfying ending? No? That's only me? Alrighty then.

Mika doesn't set out to be a hero, and she doesn't think of herself as one. She just does what is right, because to do otherwise means being unable to face herself. If that means facing down evil, black market auction to save some baby gargoyles? Gulp, then Mika will do just that.

In an alternate US, magic is an everyday part of the world. Everybody has some ability with one or more of the five elements; earth, air, fire, water, wood. And they use it in their 9-5 job. Mika is good with earth, so she works in a quarry.

There's some excellent world building, but if you like every 'i' dotted and 't' crossed in exposition, you are going to be disappointed. It's not important to the story to know the political setup, or how streetlights work, so Rebecca Chastain doesn't spend time on them. If you are okay with that, you are in for a fun read.

And it was good enough I am looking for other work by this author.
These were unexpectedly entertaining. I usually read paranormal/scifi romance but enjoy a break now & again. The world build was sophisticated & interesting; the action scenes dramatic and visual, the rhetoric well-composed. There were humorous moments too. You had to leap into the world build - initially I had the feeling there was a prequel that would have explained the set-up better. After a short time, I was able to put into perspective the bias and class structure referenced by the character. I found the heroine appealing if a bit whiny at times. There were some 'suspend belief' moments but they weren't so aggravating as to be memorable or ruin the 'in the moment' storytelling. This was a refreshing break.
The first book was the best imo. Books 2 and 3 had too much action in proportion to the amount of "story". I love "magic" but don't want to spend the entire time having to comprehend the technical details on how it is being used and how it works. Will have to read all 3 multiple times to gets the most "understanding" of it. Don't think that is necessarily a bad thing to have to do.

The author writes well. Imo the storyline is unique to me. I had read the first book for free with Prime Reading. I enjoyed it so much I Bought the set.

Also enjoyed the free short story you get via email.

I will buy and read more of this author's books.
